Creativity is more than you think....

I recently had a birthday and my roommates probably created the best 'cake' that could describe me. It looks so cute!!! I loved it! Since this is my painting blog, I thought it only best to post it. :)

This just in...

It's been awhile since I've posted something... well feels like it anyhow.
Anyways...
I've decided to give it my all this weekend to finish my portrait of Christ. I still need to work on my figure skills, so bear with me on that. But at least I'm trying. :) I'm also going to try to start another piece. From the plethora of Trementon guys that are my neighbors and running into my old boyfriend on the bus this last week, I got this awesome idea to do a cowboy (attractive, might I add) looking over his land on the porch of his homestead. It should be cool.

Upon Request....

Due to some requests, I've decided to post some of my other paintings that I've done. Enjoy!

Running Horses
This was an experimental piece that I did last fall. We pressed, poured, painted the complimentary color and used tape. The goal was to manipulate it like crazy and then attempt to bring it back to the original picture as much as possible.
It's harder to tell with the documentation, but up close the actual texture looks really cool. Almost like alligator skin. :)

Still Life: Child's Toy
Not the best quality of documentation, but it works.

One of few watercolors that I've done. I did it in high school and I don't know what city it is.

New completion!

I just finished my 5x5in flower portraits! They are now hanging up in my living room! :) These are the best pictures to portray what they really look like, but it's the best I could do considering I don't have a scanner. Now I just need to finish my portrait of Christ.

Drawing a blank

I need to spark some ideas for future pieces. I've got some already, but some of them I can't do cause I need more skill to get it to look the way I want it to. So... If you have any ideas, feel free to share :) Whoever you are that is reading this. You're welcome to post.

It's been awhile...

I just got back from a 2 week vacation in Kentucky, so now I can hopefully advertise some of my work. I'm new at this, so bear with me. Let me know what you think. Here are some of my pieces that I'm willing to sell right now...

This painting above is more finished than the picture shows.

All of these are about 14x17 in size and are not currently stretched.

Prices are as follows:
Original: $450 ..................... Apples in Bowl still life
Original: $450 ..................... Ram's skull still life
Original: $500 ...................... Wine glass/pitcher still life
Commissions: depends on size and quality. It also somewhat depends on the subject matter too. As of right now, I don't have the skill to feel comfortable doing portraits or people, but it is something I'm working towards so... keep that in mind for future dealings.

Art, art, art...

It's interesting when you want to be a professional painter, but you're poor. Granted I want to take a step forward in my art life. I want to be better in technique, style and everything else you can think of. But with a dragging summer, no painting buddy (yes, Robin that means you!), no clue about where to start and no motivation to even look for models... what can you do? ;) Haha.
I will say that there is still hope. My supervisor from my program at college wanted me to show her my stuff after I slightly mentioned it in my exit interview with her. I emailed her the majority of what I did at Snow (Thanks so much Scott!!!) and she like them. She emailed me today and said she was interested. My neighbors have seen tidbits of my stuff too and a few of them want me to paint something for them. One offered to buy a piece. I also had a guy friend (who I haven't talked to in forever) offer to buy one. Knowing all of this makes me feel like I've got a shot at this. I know the road ahead of me is going to be hard, competitive and take some critical thinking for marketing, but I'm willing to take it.
I need to figure out pricings (given my rookie status) and sizes, as well as commissioning. But you have any suggestions, feel free to share.
